    We also talked about XP. Traveller doesn't have an XP system but to allow for character development we'll use the following rules. XP will be award on a point system. Points can be spent to either increase skills or attributes. The costs are as follows:

    It will cost one point to buy a basic skill. To qualify for this the character will have to have been taught by someone or been exposed and tried to use the skill in the field.
    A skill can be increased as follows:

    From 1 to 2 : 3 pts.
    2 to 3 : 6 pts.
    3 to 4 : 10 pts.
    4 to 5 : 15 pts.
    5 to 6 : 21 pts.

    Six (6) is the maximum a skill can be increased to.

    For attributes the same matrix is used from 1-6 as for skills. From 7 on the cost is as follows:

    6 to 7 : 28 pts.
    7 to 8 : 36 pts.
    8 to 9 : 45 pts
    9 to 10 : 55 pts.
    10 to 11: 66 pts
    11 to 12 :78 pts
    12 to 13 : 91 pts.
    13 to 14 : 105 pts
    14 to 15 : 120 pts.

    15 is the max for any attribute that can be trained naturally. There are other ways to increase attributes involving drugs, implants etc. but can be risky and are only available on certain worlds and tech levels.

    [17:17] <@ENGM> Last session the group started to explore the corridors of the Ecliptic. You searched a few staterooms finding the remains of former passengers and their possessions. The passengers were all in various states of death but all bore the same frozen horrific expression that the others in séance room had....
    [17:19] <@ENGM> Heading thru one of the ships iris hatches you came into a second corridor where you were attacked by a blood like blob. Both Sam and Nevka were nearly overcome by the monster but with some quick thinking and luck, you managed to find a way to defeat it by tripping the ships fire suppression system....
    [17:20] <@ENGM> You are now licking your wounds. Sam looks like a castaway in his decayed vacc suit the blobs acidic juices eating away and dissolving parts of it from his feet to his waist. Nevka also lost her suit to her knees. Both are non-functional now.

    [17:21] <+DirkVonTowers> The way to the bridge is still down the hall, to the lounge, and through that?

    [17:23] <@ENGM> Yes from looking at schematics on a stateroom computer you can see the corridor has three sections. The séance room was in the aft of the ship, you are now in the middle corridor on the port side of the vessel. There is another iris valve that Sebastian jumped to when the blob attacked that ends the corridor at the fore of the ship....
    [17:24] <@ENGM> From there you saw the lounge in the front of the ship and a door marked bridge but the computers security did not allow you to see the actual layout of the bridge or any of the ships essential function areas.
    [17:27] <@ENGM> Thomas from what you saw of the layout, the ships staterooms line both the port and starboard wings of the ship. The bridge, engineering, etc. are all in the middle. The lounge is in the fore of the ship.
    *SESSION START
    [17:28] <@ENGM> You are all cleaning yourselves up after the attack. Sam is feeling a little worse for wear and needs new clothes. Nevka could also use a new Vacc suit but she is at least clothed to the knees.
    [17:29] <@ENGM> You are still in the middle section of the corridor on the port side. The blob is gone now just a deep crimson stain on the floor.

    [17:30] * +Thomas_J_Atkins clears his throat "Ahem. Perhaps we should be careful about opening doors. There must be some vacsuit in the lounge or bridge."

    [17:30] <@ENGM> There is still one state room in the section you haven’t checked, actually two. There were three doors in this section, you opened one. The second door the blob blocked. All the doors are now closed.

    [17:36] <@ENGM> The corridor is about 27m long with a iris hatch at the end of each end. There are doors on the port side at the 6m, 15m and 18m marks.
    [17:36] * +DirkVonTowers nods and makes his way to the furthest pad to trigger the door.
    [17:37] <+Sebastian`> "It should be functional. i was working on it while the blob accosted us."
    [17:37] Sam follows the group looking for extra clothes.

    [17:40] * +DirkVonTowers waits till everyone is well out of the way, checks to make sure he'll be able to close the door quickly if something comes out of the room..or Seb can.
    [17:40] * +Thomas_J_Atkins waits past the last door and brings up the rear.

    [17:42] <@ENGM> The hatch is open revealing the forward corridor. It is dimly lit like the others you've been in so far.

    [17:44] * +DirkVonTowers looks to see if there's any way to increase the illumination.
    [17:48] <@ENGM> Dirk fiddles with the door pad and accesses the controls for the lighting for the ship. In a few seconds the emergency lighting is replaced with regular lighting as it gradually gets brighter as if someone just increased the dimmer to max.
    [17:48] * +DirkVonTowers peers around. "There, that should help some."
    [17:49] <@ENGM> You also hear the whine of machinery as the rest of the ships systems come out of slumber. The ship is now AWAKE!
    [17:49] <+DirkVonTowers> "Oh, that's unexpected somewhat."
    [17:50] <@ENGM> It also starts to gradually get a little warmer.
    [17:50] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "You are more capable with computers than you even thought?"
    [17:51] <@ENGM> ((and Sam and Nevka are really the only ones to notice since the rest of you are still in vacc suits))
    [17:51] * +DirkVonTowers tries to see if he's done anything particularly bad for them.
    [17:51] Sam takes a breath. The air starts to freshen up.
    [17:52] <@ENGM> Dirk, as far as you can tell, all systems to be functioning normally now.
    [17:53] * +Sebastian` pokes his head back in the middle corridor. "Are we ready to proceed?"
    [17:53] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "A fortunate turn of events. for now"
    [17:53] <+DirkVonTowers> "It seems everything is functioning fine right now."
    [17:54] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "Let us proceed then. Cautiously now."
    [17:54] * +Sebastian` ducks back in the forward section.
    [17:54] Sam will follow bringing up the rear.

    [17:59] <@ENGM> You all enter the forward section. The corridor is now brightly lit. It runs well over 30m long. For now you can see doors on the port side at 6m, 12m and 21m. Beyond that you think there are more but aren’t sure.

    [18:01] * +DirkVonTowers shuffles to the other side of the corridor.

    [18:04] <@ENGM> Dirk heads to the end of the corridor. It's roughly 35-40m in length all told, there is another stateroom door at about 30m and another at the end of the corridor. An iris valve is on the starboard side of the end of the corridor as well.

    [18:07] * +Thomas_J_Atkins follows after Sebastian.
    [18:07] * +DirkVonTowers looks for a pad so he can check to see if he can access something like sensors so he can check for life signs or more blood.
    [18:08] <@ENGM> There’s a pad outside of each door. the pads outside the staterooms are rather simple. the access pad by the iris hatch is similar to the one you just hacked

    [18:10] <@ENGM> You have no trouble getting back in but you aren’t able to find anything like sensors.
    [18:11] <@ENGM> You do find life support but you’re locked out.
    [18:11] <+DirkVonTowers> "I can't tell if anything is behind any of the doors, so we may want to just make it to the bridge first."
    [18:15] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "What of the lounge?"
    [18:15] <+DirkVonTowers> ((should be just beyond the iris, right?))
    [18:19] <Sam> "I still would like some pants. And if possible, shoes"
    [18:20] <+DirkVonTowers> "We might have to wait until after the bridge."
    [18:20] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "Or the lounge at the very least, there might be a vacc suit locker."
    [18:21] * +DirkVonTowers motions for the others to get ready and opens the iris door.

    [18:21] <Sam> "Ok, not like I have too many options"
    [18:21] <@ENGM> The door cycles open. You see a large room beyond.
    [18:24] * +Thomas_J_Atkins observes beyond the iris.
    [18:27] <@ENGM> The area is large. It is roughly pyramid shaped (like Mayan, the type that’s stepped)) You enter at the bottom thru a 3m alcove. the base of the 'pyramid is about 30m across it tapers off 3m on each side as the room moves forward until it is only about 9m. There are chairs tables and what looks like a hotel reception desk on the starboard side.
    [18:28] <@ENGM> A glass shaft dissects the top of the pyramids 9m section before the section continues forward.
    [18:30] * +DirkVonTowers peers through the door, looking for anything really, really bad.
    [18:30] <@ENGM> There is an iris hatch on the opposite end of the bottom of the room from where you came in. In the middle of the 'base' is another hatch.
    [18:32] <@ENGM> None of you sense or see anything as you enter the large room.

    [18:34] * +DirkVonTowers tries to tell which door is the correct one from the schematics he saw
    [18:36] <@ENGM> You believe the bridge doors are the ones at the base of the room.
    [18:36] * +DirkVonTowers points to the base doors. "I think those should lead to the bridge."
    [18:36] <@ENGM> This you think is the reception area and forward leads to the lounge.
    [18:37] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "An odd shape for a vessel."

    [18:39] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "I would suspect something horrible, but all seems calm."
    [18:41] <@ENGM> The group gravitates towards the base doors. As you start to examine them, Dirk, Thomas and Sam all hear a soft hum coming from behind you.

    [18:43] <@ENGM> You all see a lift descending in the glass shaft from the level above. Thomas can make out the silhouette of a man inside. The lift soon comes to a stop.

    [18:49] <@ENGM> The man steps out of the lift. From his dress he looks like some sort of clergyman. His robes are adorned in symbols representing his faith. he notices you and smiles pleasantly carrying a travelling case in one hand and a book in the other...

    [18:51] <@ENGM>...He starts towrds you and shifts the book extending a hand to shake. “Good dawning to thee, Children. I be Reverend Zelrin. If thou art my fellow passengers, I can see happy company on this trip." He starts towards you and shifts the book extending a hand to shake.
    [18:53] * +DirkVonTowers looks over the symbols to see if he can tell which faith. "Greetings..."
    [18:53] * +Thomas_J_Atkins looks as the symbols as well as the book.
    [18:54] <@ENGM> Thomas you can see that the book is a brown leather tome with a golden starburst on the cover.
    [18:55] <@ENGM> He was about 10' away and has closed the distance to the nearest of you still expecting a handshake.

    [19:00] Zelrin starts shouting. "WHAT TRICKERY IS THIS! BE GONE FOUL DEMON. REMOVE THYSELF FROM GLORY'S LIGHT AND RETURN TO THE DARKNESS WHERE YOU BELONG!"
    [19:00] Zelrin tries to smack Dirk with his book and it passes right thru which incenses him even more.
    [19:01] <+DirkVonTowers> "Ah, I'm no demon. Though I suppose I've been called worse..."
    [19:02] <Zelrin> “BY THE GLORY OF THE IMPERIUM RETURN TO THE AETHER. DO NOT FOUL THIS SHIP" He continues to rant quoting scripture you've most likely never heard trying to banish you.
    [19:03] * +DirkVonTowers sighs. "Enough of this Priest. What can you tell us about what happened here?"
    [19:03] <@ENGM> After a good 15 minutes of being berated and seeing he’s having no effect on you he turns to leave screaming for the captain or the steward.
    [19:04] * +Thomas_J_Atkins goes to the reception area, see if there's any working console.

    [20:17] <@ENGM> One by one you all enter the bridges entryway.

    [20:18] <@VS1> From the lounge side nothing seems amiss but once on the other side you all notice that each of the other crew, even though they seemed to enter from that side, are missing on the bridge side....

    [17:14] <@ENGM> Last time you finally braved the anomaly, in so much as Thomas got himself sucked in and the rest of you eventually followed....
    [17:16] <@ENGM> On the other side Thomas found himself landed in a medieval looking room complete with stone walls, heavy wooden furniture and windows high overhead in the ceiling that were letting in what appeared to be moonlight....
    [17:17] <@ENGM> Seated around a heavy oak table but sitting in modern were four figures, hands interlocked, well until Thomas knocked one over, their faces frozen in horror. They all seemed to be dead for only a few days at most....
    [17:18] <@ENGM> You all finally jumped in the room and upon closer inspection you found the table had some tarot cards on it which were disturbed upon Sam's entry, you found a scanner of some sort, some books all by the same author, Dr. Benard Vuuton, and a strange device in the authors pocket....
    [17:20] <@ENGM> Sam played with the device and apparently turned it either off or on because all of a sudden the room changed to a star ship stateroom the only thing consistent being the table with the bodies. The heavy wooden door out was replaced with a standard ship door which eventually you decided to open....
    [17:21] <@ENGM> Oh and there was the apparition of an imperial captain that Thomas encountered when he first entered the room that mentioned he was "doomed".

    [17:33] <@ENGM> The door cycles open on your approach. The other door stays closed as you pass.

    [17:41] <@ENGM> Sam goes through the door into another corridor. At the far end of the corridor he can barely make out what looks like another iris hatch. To his left about 2-3 meters away is a side door.

    [18:34] <@ENGM> You all head down the corridor towards the other iris door. About 4m down you run across a set of doors on your left. The left door has a pad to its left and the right a pad to its right. The corridor ends about 3m at the iris door further on.

    [18:39] <@ENGM> Dirk, You open the door and blood starts to pool out into the hall. It starts to ooze around your vacc suit boots. It's thick, very thick and hard to step out of.
    [18:40] * +DirkvonTowers jumps and attempts to step/jump out of the blood. There may have been some cursing.
    [18:40] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> ((He is an Evil, Nasty GM after all))
    [18:41] <+Nevka> "What the hell?"
    [18:41] * +Thomas_J_Atkins tries to move away from the pouring muddle "Who opened that now?!?!" [18:41] <@ENGM> Anyone jumping out of the blood roll me 2d6, need a 9 for success add vacc suit skill to the roll

    [18:43] * +Thomas_J_Atkins helps those closer-by to get unstuck into the coagulating goo.
    [18:45] <@ENGM> Thomas is the only one that manages to clear the blood pool jumping back down the corridor the way you had come. The rest of you feel something slowly start to ooze its way up your leg, especially Sam who has both legs wrapped. You look down and see tendrils of blood winding their way up your vacc suits. For now your vacc suits seem to be protecting you from any harm.
    [18:46] <@ENGM> Sebastian is caught in the blood too.
    [18:47] * +DirkvonTowers curses and leans away, trying to free one of his feet. "Well, hell."
    [18:47] <@ENGM> Dirk is closest Thomas.
    [18:48] * +Thomas_J_Atkins grabs Dirk and try to pull him out "Well, I will admit, bones would be less messy than this.
    [18:49] <@ENGM> Thomas you can’t get Dirk out of the blood.
    [18:49] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> ((we'll wait for him at the door))
    [18:56] <@ENGM> Initiative order: Sam, Blood, Sebastian, Nevka, Thomas, Dirk
    [18:56] <@ENGM> Sam the blood has reached your waist.

    [19:05] * +Nevka tries to cut the pod that has her leg as she moves back.

    [19:06] <+Nevka> Simple hand knife.
    [19:06] <@ENGM> Nevka tries to slash at the ooze but her swipe has no affect.

    [19:07] * +Thomas_J_Atkins grabs on more solidly on Dirk and pulls!
    [19:07] <@ENGM> Thomas manages to yank Dirk free pulling Dirk towards himself.
    [19:08] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "My knowledge of space biology might be old, but Blood does not coagulate like that in space does it?"
    [19:08] <@ENGM> Dirk lands on his feet next to Thomas covered in the goo.
    [19:08] <+Nevka> "No it certainly does not!"
    [19:09] * +DirkvonTowers nods his thanks as he balances carefully.

    [19:10] * +DirkvonTowers grabs his sword and takes a swipe at one of the pseudopods.
    [19:11] <@ENGM> Dirk slices at the ooze. He thinks he hit the thing as he sees it momentarily part, before reforming again.
    [19:14] <@ENGM> As stated you slash the thing and it seems to part but it soon reforms over and wound you inflicted. The entity seems to be unharmed.

    [19:15] * +SamuraiHanson draws a survival knife from his bag and takes a swipe at the ooze.

    [19:19] <@ENGM> The ooze will try pin Sam down more at the same time lashing out at the rest of you in all directions.
    [19:20] <@ENGM> The ooze starts attempting to advance again up your suit Sam. Its moving above your waste.
    [19:20] <@ENGM> A pseudopod lashes out in Sebastian’s direction.
    [19:21] * +Sebastian` sidesteps it and laughs.
    [19:21] <@ENGM> The ooze continues to try to work its way up Nevka.
    [19:22] * +Nevka is scraping away with her knife!
    [19:22] <@ENGM> Nevka wiggles enough to keep it in place for now.

    [19:28] <@ENGM> The back door panel is right behind you. Both Nevka and Sam are still in the ooze. Sam is in the worse shape as it is climbing him fast. Nevka is just starting to have both her legs covered but she is trying to beat the thing down with a knife.
    [19:29] <@ENGM>Currently, the ooze takes up the center of the hall about a 2x2 meter patch maybe just a little smaller. Part of it is still in the stateroom.
    [19:30] * +Thomas_J_Atkins goes to help Sam and pull him out "Get that door closed!"
    [19:31] <@ENGM> Sam can try to grab you too.
    [19:32] <@ENGM> Thomas you reach out and try to grab Sam but can’t hang on. Sam manages to lunge at little at you can clasp on to your vacc suit arm.
    [19:34] <@ENGM> It's a tug of war between you and the ooze but you manage to get Sam pulled closer to you. It rips the ooze from his waist. It's now just holding his legs.

    [19:35] <@ENGM> Sam your legs are starting to feel cold even with the suit on.

    [19:43] <@ENGM> A pod lashes out right past your head but it just misses you.
    [19:43] <@ENGM> At the same time it attacks Thomas, its making its way up Nevka’s legs towards her waist now.

    [19:44] <@ENGM> Sebastian is at the end of the corridor working on the door, the creature will try to lash at him but he is out of range.

    [19:45] <@ENGM> Sam you take 6 points to your dex as the cold seems to penetrate your suit sapping energy and heat from your body.
    [19:45] * +Thomas_J_Atkins gets a better grip on Sam before pulling him out of there.

    [19:46] * +Nevka keeps trying to pull free.
    [19:47] <@ENGM> Somehow Nevka manages to pull herself a bit out of the bloods grip. It retreats to her knees now.

    [19:47] <+DirkvonTowers> ((I closed the door to keep the rest of it inside, right? or is it still cycling?))
    [19:48] <@ENGM> Dirk closed the back iris valve. The stateroom door was by Sam and Nevka.

    [19:49] <@ENGM> I wouldn’t call it a mistake. You’ve got it contained to this corridor now and you’re still at the control panel.

    [19:52] <@ENGM> Dirk hacks into the service menu. It gives you options to open and close all the doors for rooms numbered 4-13 including corridors 14-16.

    [19:59] <@ENGM> Sam lurches forward and with Thomas also pulling him, is finally able to break free. The bottom of his suit looks like a dry film now and crumbles off of him to his thighs after he lands on the floor making him look like a 16th century castaway.

    [20:01] <@ENGM>The blood’s pseudopod lashes out at Sam trying to grab him, smacking Sam hard sending him against the iris valve door.
    [20:02] <@ENGM> The blood tries to entangle Nevka even more but as it tries it is cut in half by the stateroom door closing stopping it’s ascent.
    [20:03] <@ENGM> SEBASTIAN
    [20:04] * +Sebastian` will try to reach out and grab Nevka but he can’t get close enough to her to pull her out.

    [20:05] * +Thomas_J_Atkins tries his best to get Sam away from the Blood "It ate right through your suit!"

    [20:06] <@ENGM> The bottom of Sam’s suit has crumbled like old paper.
    [20:06] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> ((Perhaps fires affects it, that or cold.))

    [20:06] <@ENGM> No but Sam has a survival kit and a good one from Ivans. That most likely has a number of them.
    [20:06] <@ENGM> Sam is your kit on your back?
    [20:09] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "We will need to burn it; or freeze it, either one's easier, since cutting will
    [20:10] <@ENGM> Thomas you can see the kit strapped to Sam’s back near the life support for his suit.
    [20:11] <@ENGM> what do you want to do?
    [20:11] * +Thomas_J_Atkins gets a couple of flares out, lifting one up and using it on the Blood Blob.
    [20:14] <@ENGM> Thomas lights the flare and hurls it a the blob. It lands close to Nevkas feet. Smoke starts to fill the corridor, luckily for most of you still have your vacc suits on. Sam notices the smells of burnt copper coming up from the floor and into his suit....
    [20:16] <@ENGM> ... soon you hear the doors cycle and clank what you think is locked shut and klaxons blare echoing off the corridors walls. 10-15 seconds later the fire suppression system kicks in and starts spraying foam all over the corridor.
    [20:16] * +Nevka took that time to wrench free.
    [20:18] <@ENGM> Nevka is able to pull herself free and wade through the foam. The system stays on until the smoke is completely gone. Soon you hear the whirl of what you think are fans and air is cycled through the ships vents letting in some fresh air.
    [20:19] <@ENGM> It takes a while, maybe a half hour for the system to cycle and the foam to dissipate. When it does there's a brownish red sludge left on the floor about an inch deep.
    [20:19] <+Nevka> "Well, at least you killed it."
    [20:19] <@ENGM> Fresh air continues to cycle into the corridor.
    [20:20] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "Judging by Sam's suit, a good thing as well, whatever it was."
    [20:20] <@ENGM> In another half hour the doors cycle again. Both Iris doors open letting in more fresh air.
    [20:20] <@ENGM> Nevka, the bottom of your suit crumbles to your knees.
    [20:20] <+Nevka> "Dammit! What the *hell* was that!?"
    [20:21] <@ENGM> Sam is still feeling a little sluggish like the life was being drained out of him
    [20:21] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "Whatever it was, it's dead, or at least retreated into the room."
    [20:21] <+SamuraiHanson> "I've never seen anything like that before" as Sam sags against the wall to catch his breath.
    [20:22] * DirkVonTowers eyes the closed door. "Certainly interesting, technological or something else do you think?"
    [20:23] <@ENGM> Both Thomas and Sebastian’s suits are both unharmed. Dirk’s is stained at the bottom. Sam and Nevkas are basically ruined.
    [20:24] <+Thomas_J_Atkins> "It never moved past the room it was locked in, at least until someone opened it."
    [20:24] * DirkVonTowers attempts to use his computer access to get directions to the bridge.
    [20:26] <@ENGM> Dirk you seem to be on the port side of the ship. Staterooms line both sides of the ship leading to and passenger and observation lounge. Access to the bridge is thru the passenger lounge
    [20:27] <@ENGM> The group is in the middle corridor on the port side. There’s one more section of corridor in front of you before you hit a iris door that goes to the lounge.
    [20:29] <DirkVonTowers> "One more section, until we hit the lounge. From there we should be able to access the bridge."
