History
Taleera is a born Tarsian Hiver, and has indeed not left her hab until she inadvertently attracted the attention of a member of the Holy Inquisition.
Being the only child of a lower class stripper in the underhive and raised without a real father, Taleera soon was forced to cope with the struggle for survival that living in the sublevels of Hive Tarsis meant. Harsh food rationing, gang warfare and riots were almost daily business in her sector.
Long before even reaching her 10th birthday, Taleera had already become involved in gang culture and crime by running small errands in exchange for nutrition bars and a few thrones prest money. Not much later, she was forced to take a side and join one of the gangs. Ultimately, she joined the ranks of the Nightstriders, who soon became much more of a family to her than her own mother could be.
It was unavoidable for her to be dragged down deeper into the vicious cycle of violence and criminality, and at the age of 12, she had killed her first opponent in self-defence. This homicide had marked her passage into the inner ranks of her gang, and soon her assignments changed from menial tasks to armed raids and the defence of her gang's territory.
The prestige she received within the gang by killing enemy after enemy strengthened her will to continue spilling blood, and coupled well with the taste of fatalistic dominance she felt after taking another life. Preferring style over brute force, she soon began to make a wicked sort of art out of her kills, adopting the street name "Raven" in the process.
In the coming years, the girl had honed her skills and continued to display an unusual affection for elaborate killings, relishing in both the fear she caused in her rivals' ranks as well as the credit received from her own people. The underhive had long claimed any remaining moral issues she may have harbored at first upon joining the Nightstriders.
During a particular violent phase of gang warfare, which even spread into the middle sectors, the Adeptus Arbites moved in, quickly and efficiently putting down any opposition to pacify the hab in a sense so it would not concern the upper class citizens any longer. Whilst watching other members of her gang dying left and right of her, Raven actually managed to survive and even kill two Enforcers in the fight. In the end, however, she was cornered upon trying to escape. A brutal series of shockmaul beatings sent her into blessed unconsciousness.
Her internment was processed normally and with every stone-cold and dehumanizing aspect the Imperium's bureaucracy had to offer. Expecting a sentence of execution or at least a lifetime of penal labour, the girl was surprised to have catched the eye of someone who seemed to have enough power to boot her out of prison.
Vowing to repay Inquisitor Skane's generosity with her loyalty was the next best thing to do, and Raven simply accepted the fact that she really did not have much of a choice anyways.
And thus began her new life in service of the God-Emperor...
