7/1/16

[20:51] <@BradGM> The convoy was again hit mid afternoon, but this time, the Beastsmen had a plan. As archers fired from a turned-over chariot, forcing to close in for melee, a Wolfmen flanked a wagon and managed to destroy a wheel before any of the travellers could act.
[20:51] <@BradGM> Using the chariot’s wheel, they managed to repair the wagon, but lost precious time in the process. As darkness fell, the convoy came under constant arrow fire from the Darkwald. After trying to lid a forest fire and casting marsh lights to act as distant torches, the Party, sans Siluvaine, slow their pace and ready to charge their attackers.

[20:52] <@BradGM> Siluvaine, you can still control your lights.
[20:53] * +Siluvaine continues to control them, making them look like additional forces.
[20:59] <@BradGM> ((yes, you can play peopl))
[20:59] * @Aithorn swings up onto the nearest wagon and stows the nearest lantern.
[20:59] <@Aithorn> "They might be more distracted if we weren't so damn noticable.
[20:59] <@Aithorn> "
[21:00] <+Alexi> we're still getting shot at and we can't escape and we can't return fire for shit
[21:00] * +Siluvaine nods, looking at the wagons. "Douse the lights!"
[21:00] <+Ulric> (we still chargin into the woods?)
[21:01] <@Aithorn> ((we're going to give the marsh lights one more chance by making ourselves less of a target))
[21:04] <+Ulric> (ok)
[21:04] * @Aithorn moves on to the next wagon after the first wagon has been darkened
[21:06] <@BradGM> You dim the lanterns, leaving but a pilot-like light. A kid yells "Looks, there's torches o'er 'there!" from the ssecond wagon, and you can all see a row of tiny light dots moving in the istance.
[21:08] <@BradGM> Grunts and snarls comes from forest as well, as the volley of arrows is reduced to a few whisling trails around you.
[21:10] * +Siluvaine moves towards the front, relying on her elven sight to guide the wagons now that the lights are doused.
[21:11] <@Edgerrin> me takes up the rear making sure nothing sneaks up from behind
[21:11] <@BradGM> You keeps moving as the arrows drop in numbers, until it stops, the Beastsmen snarling and grunting in the distance.
[21:12] <+Ulric> (sweet, no charge of the light brigade required)
[21:13] <@Aithorn> ((don't count your chickens before they cluck, we still have diceling to contend with))
[21:13] <@BradGM> It takes another 20 minutes beforer you arrive at the coaching inn. The patrolmen call to get the gate open, and you are finally in within moments.
[21:14] * +Siluvaine checks herself over, making sure she's alright once they're safe. "That..was annoying."
[21:15] <@BradGM> Patrolman "I'd never thought I'd ssay this, but thank Sigmar that witchcraft."
[21:15] * @Edgerrin pounds the end of his hammer in the dirt. 1"T'was a tad bit more than annoying."
[21:15] * +Siluvaine tries not to smirk at the comment.
[21:16] * @Aithorn sheaths his sword, "Indeed, it was almost fun."
[21:17] <@Edgerrin> "Nuttin' but cowards who dint show thar faces."
[21:17] <@BradGM> Prices are the same all across the road; 5p for common room and meal, 1/5 for single room and meal, feeding' 5p, ale is 1p
[21:19] <+Siluvaine> ((1/5?))
[21:19] <@BradGM>
You can also get healed up here, if need be, via Ulrich or the owner's wife (skill of 30))
[21:19] <@BradGM> ((1/ = 1 shilling, so 1/5 is 1 shilling, 5 pence.))
[21:19] <+Ulric> (lol)
[21:20] <@BradGM> ((hey got to be self sufficent in the middle of nowhere))
[21:20] <+Ulric> "all those arrows made me hungry"
[21:21] <+Siluvaine> ((Ah, okay))
[21:22] * +Siluvaine considers her purse and takes another single room and meal and lets whoever is better patch her up.
[21:23] <@BradGM> ((That would be Ulrich, obviously))
[21:26] <@BradGM> ((Lightly wounded Sil?))
[21:26] <+Siluvaine> ((yeah. 2 taken out of 11))
[21:26] <+Ulric> "come over here and let me look at that wound."
[21:27] <@BradGM> ((Don't think anyone else got wounded in the party?))
[21:27] <+Ulric> !dhroll 74
[21:27] <Diceling> Ulric: 46 Success by 2 degrees!
[21:27] <+Ulric> !roll 1d10
[21:27] <Diceling> Ulric: 5
[21:28] <+Ulric> (get 5 back or up to your starting wounds.)
[21:28] <+Ulric> "that will do, off you go"
[21:29] <@BradGM> The night is spend speeling a little tense; still got 3 days to go on the trip.
[21:29] <@BradGM> ((that's sleeping))
[21:29] * +Siluvaine grimaces as she gets patched up, and looks over her clothing and sighs at the damage. "There's really no way to make this trip easier, is there."
[21:29] <@BradGM> ((that's a first, typo with 2 letters spaced out..))
[21:30] <@BradGM> ((Moving on then?))
[21:31] <+Ulric> (i'll get a meal and an Ale, i'll stay with the pesents for awhile, check on their wounds and stuff, then find a bed)
[21:31] <@Aithorn> "You can always make a journey easier if you stay home, but that has it's own regrets."
[21:31] <+Siluvaine> "Not too many."
[21:32] <+Ulric> (So that what? 1s 6p?)
[21:32] <+Siluvaine> ((Ayup))
[21:32] <@BradGM> ((with a single room, yes, else it's 6 pense))
[21:33] <+Ulric> ( maybe i'll just sleepin the common room with the rest of the common folks)
[21:34] <+Ulric> (save some money, keep an eye on things too)
[21:34] <@BradGM> ((yes Brother tuck))
[21:34] <+Ulric> (tehe)
[21:35] <+Ulric> (never know, those beasties may come a knocking)
[21:35] <+Ulric> (and i want to be at the door with my axe if they do)
[21:36] <+Ulric> (not with my throat cut in a bed)
[21:36] <@BradGM> Next morning you leave again. The families, mostly the chidren, appears less entousiastic about the trip. Still, they get ready and ready themselves for the trip ahead.
[21:36] <@BradGM> ((the coaching inns are walled, for security reasons))
[21:37] <@Aithorn> ((sensible))
[21:37] <@BradGM> The Day is tenses again, any branch cracking in the distance get heads turning and hands on pummels and triggers.
[21:38] * +Siluvaine rides with her quarterstaff at hand, ready to put her horse between her and any danger.
[21:38] <@BradGM> You arrive at the coaching inn with daylight to burn. you also feels less 'enclosed' as the forest seems to open up and feels yougner as well.
[21:40] <+Siluvaine> "Well, this is much better day."
[21:40] <+Siluvaine> ((+a))
[21:41] <@Aithorn> "For a while yesterday, it was as if we were back working for the Church again. How far is Altdorf from here?"
[21:41] <@BradGM> The inn also have a few other travellers as well; there is a forth about 20 minutes to the south of here, leading to Talabhiem to the East. It seems yuo are out of the Darkwald Forest.
[21:43] <@BradGM> Patrolman " About 2 days; We should reach the Carroburg Crossreaods tommorw evening and then Altdorf by midday.
[21:44] <@BradGM> ((Doing anything in perticular?))
[21:44] <@BradGM> ((or do we continue?))
[21:44] <+Ulric> (sitting on my ass mostly probably)
[21:44] <+Siluvaine> ((Do they have anything for sale here?))
[21:45] <@BradGM> ((no, short of simple foodstuff))
[21:46] <@BradGM> ((You would learn from a Patrolman that the Carroburg Crossroads is actually the town of Böchen. You can do shopping there))
[21:47] <+Ulric> (i cant log into vpn, take the food costs out of my money and give me a wound back for sleep as well)
[21:47] * +Siluvaine will get a single room again and listen in the common room for any odd news from the travelers.
[21:48] <+Ulric> (2 wounds back if we are sleeping through the night here as well with no problems)
[21:48] <@BradGM> ((done Ul))

[21:51] <@BradGM>
You do catch the end of a convrsation between the others talking and your own group...something about a Griffon flying in the Altdorf sky now?
[21:52] <+Ulric> (ill try to listen in on what people are saying too, maybe my Reikspiel is bestter)
[21:52] <+Ulric> (better)
[21:52] <@BradGM> ((heh))
[21:52] <+Ulric> !dhroll 37
[21:52] <Diceling> Ulric: 32 Success by 0 degrees!
[21:52] <+Ulric> (it is!)
[21:53] <+Ulric> (so what are the folks here blabbering about)
[21:54] * +Siluvaine wonders if they mean an actual griffon or some weird human heraldry.
[21:55] <@BradGM>
There's stories about weckers acting on the Reik River between Altdrof and Nuln; Small bands were caughs up and hanged, but they ought to get organised quick with the armies up North.
[21:55] <@Aithorn> "Perhaps there is some coin to be made hunting when we get to Altdorf.
[21:55] <+Ulric> (weckers?)
[21:56] <+Ulric> (bandits?)
[21:56] <@BradGM>
Sorry, that's Wreckers;sailors who works to wreck a ship to them claim 'slavage rights' on the wreck and loots everyone and dispose of any witenesses, i.e pirates
[21:56] <@Aithorn> ((an old elvish word meaning "travellers up to no good"))
[21:56] <+Ulric> (got it)
[21:57] <+Ulric> (damned elvish)
[21:57] * +Siluvaine shakes her head. "I think we'll be busy enough?"
[21:57] <@BradGM> ((weckers on the orad.))
[21:57] * +Siluvaine looks over at the group talking about the griffon. "A griffon? Really?"
[21:58] * +Ulric drinks his ale and preteneds not to know the Elf"
[21:59] <@BradGM>
The group seems to not notice you at all siluvaine and continues talking about something or another.
[21:59] <+Ulric> "thats a little imbarrassing"
[22:00] * @Aithorn says in a whisper "We might be, but I'd rather have a better reason when someone notices a strange group like ours together."
[22:01] * +Siluvaine rolls her eyes and settles back, sipping her ale.
[22:01] * +Ulric whispers "and having and elf mage screaming across the tavern about Griphons doesn't really draw GOOD attention"
[22:02] <+Ulric> "try to get burned at the stake on your own time, not with me"
[22:03] <@Aithorn> "Don't worry, you're with the Sigmarites now, I don't think they'd burn you with her."
[22:03] <+Ulric> " thats not the point, I just dont want to have to set her on the pire personally"
[22:03] <@Edgerrin> .0
[22:03] <@Edgerrin> .00.
[22:04] <@Edgerrin> ((sorry daughter hitting the keyboard))
[22:04] <@BradGM> ((yeah, I figured it was that time))
[22:05] <+Ulric> "im not into the burning people alive thing, its barbaric"
[22:05] * +Siluvaine rolls her eyes. "Like that would get me light up. And anyone that tries to burn me will get what's coming to them."
[22:06] <+Ulric> "times or war, times or war.."
[22:06] <+Ulric> (*of)
[22:07] <@BradGM> ((reminds me of a scen from the Visitors movies; they got a witch and the monk is telling about how'd they'd torture her, and the lord said "We don't Torture women on my land; burning her alive will be enough!"))
[22:07] * +Ulric winks at Sil "times are strange"
[22:08] <+Siluvaine> "Lets hope the beastmen stick to the forest."
[22:08] <@Aithorn> ((I watched a movie where they were talking about burning witches alive. The head inquisitor said "Don't burn them alive, wound them first so they can't get away."))
[22:08] <@BradGM> ((Oddly that scene is on youtbue https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OakrLuuqo-0 ))
[22:10] <@BradGM> ((Intresting. I saw another movie too, a medival one, had a scen with a witch.))
[22:10] <@Aithorn> "It depends on what they're chasing or if they are just hungry."
[22:10] <@BradGM> ((It was pretty shocking to say the least, didn't expect that to happen))
[22:11] <@BradGM> ((Turns out you can spot a witch by seeing if she weights the same as a duck.))
[22:11] <+Ulric> (......that makes no sense at all)
[22:11] <+Ulric> (but ok)
[22:12] <+Siluvaine> ((heh))
[22:12] <+Ulric> (it was called the dark ages for a reason)
[22:12] <@BradGM> ((what, never saw Monty Python and the holy grail?))
[22:12] <+Ulric> (i have, just been a long time sense i seen it)
[22:12] <+Ulric> ( I thik i liked the virgins scene the most)
[22:13] <@BradGM> well, can't go wrong with a castle filled of virgins))
[22:13] <@BradGM> ((but moving on...what to keep RP-ing or do we continue the trip?))
[22:13] * +Siluvaine leans back and sips her ale. "Well, no one should be looking for us specifically, so hopefully they were just hungry."
[22:13] <+Ulric> (i would rather just have the castle)
[22:13] <+Siluvaine> ((continuing the trip is fine))
[22:14] <+Ulric> yeah
[22:14] <+Ulric> (yeah)
[22:14] <+Ulric> (lets shove off)
[22:15] <@Aithorn> ((let's keep going))
[22:18] <@BradGM>
The Next day, you leave, arriving at the Crossroads soon enough..and a toll station! 1 pence per person, a shilling a horse or ox, 1 shilling per axel.

[22:21] <+Siluvaine> ((Are we still with the group and the patrol?))
[22:22] <@BradGM> ((if you left with them yes. I suppose you did))
[22:23] * +Siluvaine grumbles at the cost, but forks over the 1/1.
[22:25] <@BradGM>
The road is actully used, and numerous times you have to move to the side to let pass a wagon or horsemen to pass.
[22:26] <+Ulric> sorry guys, im falling asleep here, i got to go and get some sleep.
[22:26] <+Siluvaine> "Well, atleast we're safer here."
[22:26] <+Ulric> (i slept very little lastnight, i need a power nap.)
[22:27] <@Aithorn> "Until some human farmer decides that the elves are a stench and decide to do something about it."
[22:27] <+Alexi> "Dot von't hoppen."
[22:28] <+Ulric> "more fool the farmer for trying"
[22:28] <@BradGM>
Speaking of, around mid-day, you enter a clearing and soon enough, cultivated fields surround you.
[22:29] <+Ulric> (ok got to go, sorry, i'll be here for next week. heal up anyone thats hurt and put my axe blade into any mutant/beastling that gets to close to me)
[22:30] <+Ulric> (if its a demon, I auto flee, LOL)
[22:30] <@BradGM> ((all right, thanks for playing, good night))
[22:30] <+Ulric> goodnight

[22:31] <+Siluvaine> "Well, definitely looking up."
[22:31] <@BradGM>
By the end of the day, you arrive in Böchen, a good sized walled town. Toll is a pence per legs, a shilling for horses, 6 pense for mules.
[22:32] <@Edgerrin> (this world is worse than new jersey with all their tolls))
[22:33] <@Aithorn> ((lol, at least there are fewer chemical refineries than New Jersey))
[22:34] <@Edgerrin> ((thats only newark. s jersey is woods and marsh))
[22:34] <@BradGM> ((Wait until you get to nuln...))
[22:35] <+Siluvaine> "We should've gotten something from the church. This is getting annoying."
[22:36] <@BradGM>
BNöchen is a Large town, so you can find almost anything and evrything.
[22:37] <@BradGM>
The patrolmen recommend a travelling inn, the prices are th sasme as the coaching inns; You can also get to actual hotels as well
[22:39] <@Aithorn> ((I'll go for the travelling inn))
[22:39] <+Siluvaine> ((traveling Inn. Hate to see the hotel prices))
[22:40] <@BradGM> ((shopping for anything else?))
[22:41] * +Siluvaine looks for any place that might sell magical supplies, like spare darts, etc.

[22:48] <@Aithorn> ((*other* substances.... hmmmm.....))
[22:48] <@BradGM>
It seems asking the one-eyes beggar with the pet rat was a good thing to do.
[22:48] <@BradGM>
He seems expectant of a tip
[22:48] * +Siluvaine gives him a pence.
[22:49] <+Siluvaine> ((pence/penny))
[22:50] <@BradGM> !dhroll 43
[22:50] <Diceling> BradGM: 2 Success by 4 degrees!

[22:50] <@Aithorn> ((why do I get the image of this guy like the guy with the monkey from Indiana Jones and the Last crusade))
[22:51] <@BradGM>
DEspite the laughable tip, he nods to you and seems to accept it.
[22:53] * +Siluvaine keeps her hand on her purse and heads for the shop.
[22:55] <@BradGM>
You can find ingredients, most are animals parts and animals themselves; they are 3 crows, a couple of rabbits, a chcicken and 2 cats.
[22:55] <+Siluvaine> ((blink. What am I supposed to do with those?))
[22:56] <@Aithorn> (( a light gravy with some rice? cucumber sandwiches with cat?))
[22:58] <@BradGM>
You also find ingredients for your own spells as well; the animals and such are for other spells.
[22:58] <@Aithorn> ((and dinner. they're also for dinner.))
[22:58] * +Siluvaine picks up what she needs, ignoring the rest.
[23:02] * +Siluvaine eventually winds back up at the traveling inn.
[23:02] <@Aithorn> "Did you find what you were looking for?"
[23:04] <+Siluvaine> "Seems so."
[23:05] <@BradGM> ((Anything else wishing to be done here?))
[23:06] <+Siluvaine> ((not me))
[23:06] <@Aithorn> ((I'm good))

[23:12] <@Aithorn> ((Alexi, he who smelt it dealt it.))
[23:13] <@BradGM>
Alexi, despite being in-land and with no watr ways visible or heard, you get a strong smell of rotten fish taken from the Southern wind.
[23:16] <+Alexi> "Ho, iz dead feesh over dot vay..."
[23:16] * +Siluvaine blinks, looking around. "Hmm?"
[23:16] <@Aithorn> "How big of a fish must it be to be smelt this far away?"
[23:17] <+Alexi> "Hy dunno. Could be lot uf dem?"
[23:19] <@BradGM>
It takes about 15-20 minutes until you can a smell of rotten fish as well.
[23:19] <@BradGM> !roll 1d10
[23:19] <Diceling> BradGM: 10
[23:19] <@Aithorn> "Could be that griffon that they were talking about 2 towns ago."
[23:20] * +Siluvaine grimaces at the smell. "Really? Where is all that coming from?"
[23:22] * +Siluvaine looks around for any sign of the fish or anything odd.
[23:22] <@BradGM>
The smell then changes an hour later to the smell of vomit; not enough to get sick, but enugh to leave the after taste. By now, you can see the high walls of Altdorf in the distance, right from the wind's direction.
[23:23] * +Siluvaine coughs and wraps a cloth around her face, grimacing. "Is that coming from the city?"
[23:25] <@Aithorn> "No wonder the Orks haven't driven the humans off, they can't get close enough!"
[23:25] <@BradGM> Patrolman "Aye. Everytime I think or quitting, a trip to Altdorf makes me change my mind real quick about that!"
[23:26] * +Siluvaine coughs. "This is..the usual smell?"
[23:27] <@Aithorn> "Siluvaine, are you sure we're not walking into some kind of plague?"
[23:27] <@BradGM>
You can see poeple going and coming from the road to the city; it seems traffic is uniterrupted.
[23:28] * +Siluvaine opens herself to the winds, examining the area.
[23:31] <@BradGM>
The magnificence! Tall Spires shoots out from the high walls well past the other buildings, gleamig in the Winds with powers you've never even though possible.
[23:32] * +Siluvaine studies the winds and shakes her head, closing off her sense, a little awed by it all. "No, I think its just a human city."
[23:33] <@BradGM> ((And ok if we stop it here for tonght, get the Altdorf part then?))
[23:33] <@BradGM> ((This would also mark the end of a chapter))
[23:33] <+Siluvaine> ((seems like a good place))
[23:33] <@Aithorn> ((sounds good to me))
[23:34] <@BradGM>
