A Troubled Past
Lyra was born in a rather small Ghostfire farming commmunity owned in a small time Vai's territory. At 12 her town was destroyed as Vervai Skull sought to take control of the land from his opponent. Caught between the two armies of murderers, the townspeople were slaughtered in the crossfire. Lyra managed to escape with help from an older brother, Malik, who later perished when he attemped to cross a strong river. Lyra wandered about in the wilderness for two weeks before she fell due to exposure to the elements and lack of sleep, food, and freshwater.
A few months later she awoke to find she was alive and was being cared for at the Abbey of Dawn. The Sisters Famulous had decided to take her in and care for her for six years, eventually attempting to brand her a Novice. Lyra would not take to their instructions on history and scholarship and spent more time with the Sisters of the Ebon Chalice. Palatine Rhiannon however did not have the resources to care for a Novice in her Mission. Her and the Cannoness decided they would still do a decent thing and get the child off the planet since they knew her tragic history. They eventually arranged for her to catch a ship from Port Suffering and be taken to another world.
Lyra arrived at Merov and began searching for a way to make a living. There was nothing much to be had that fit her interest or desires. She decided if she couldn't be a Sister Militant she would try for the next best thing, the Imperial Guard. The Merovech 8th happened to be in the process of Founding. Despite her gender she still swore her oath to the Emperor of Man and the Imperium and was put into the maintenance company of the regiment. Despite enjoying the job she wanted to fight and fought until she was transferred to a line company.
Baptism of Fire
Lyra's baptism of fire occurred when the 8th was sent to assist the Sepherinian PDF put down a large mutant infestation. She served admirably enough and was soon selected to be a part of the Merovech 8th's Reconassaince Platoon. There she served admirably even at one point holding a cave entrance by herself using only a stubgun and a las pistol she had acquired, suffering grevious wounds but it held the mutants long enough for the other units of the 8th to help fill the gap the recon unit had been forced to hold. She was awarded a Badge of the Lion for her valor and wounds. She was then promoted to Lance Corporal. The 8th then transferred to Weyland's Way near ND0/K4 to train in low-gravity and no atmosphere environments in preparation to be moved out of the sector to join in one of the large Crusades in Segmentum Pacificus.
It was here that the Foresight of the Emperor would once again change her life...
Forsaking the Emperor
After an engagement on the planet Modra as they helped mop up an Inquisitorial raid on a Dark Eldar position they were attacked by a horde of mutants. In a moment of oddity a grenade thrown by Lyra ended up amongst her own troops, it killed many. Combined with other costly fratricidal mistakes this drove her into despair and she cried out against the Emperor during the battle. This was overheard by the Inquisition whose members kept it no secret they knew about her crime. She feared for her life and was lost in a pit of self loathing and despair. It was in a moment at the Arbitrator's fortress she attempted to take her life. The Emperor intervened yet again and she emerged only concussed. Some started believing her to have a purpose but she failed to see it. She managed to help the Inquisitor's Retinue complete their mission and it was in the aftermath she was taken by the Inquisitor's personal Stormtroopers. Lyra was thoroughly interrogated and tortured but emerged as a member of His Most Holy Inquisition as Inquisitor Skane had heard of her merits and the story of her amazing knack for surviving no matter the odds.
It is here that she began her true journey in earnest...
Illumination
Lyra was dispatched with a Priest, Metalus to help one of Skane's savants in a matter on Iocanthos. Lyra was excited and withdrawn about going back to her old homeworld. It is at Port Suffering they met with Aristarchus, Skane's man on the world. They eventually made their way to Stern Hope, a settlement built for the purpose of spreading the Emperor's Word. The cathedral was being prepared for consecration, but the Abbot, Skae, mentioned that many odd occurances were happening in weeks prior. Lyra and Metalus set about discovering the true matter but could divulge nothing concrete. It was the day of the consecration that things came to a head.
During the Morning Mass Voicers from the Army of Seth attacked. Lyra and Metalus as well as the men of the Ashleen Warriors managed to stave the enemy off. (Lyra managing to destroy the Voicers wishing to bomb the cathedral, by shooting the bomb, and eventually decapitating a foe with her blade.) The Ashleen, led by a woman (of importance) named Raine who immediately took her leave, decrying what was happening there. Aristarchus dispatched the team to arrest Raine. It was there that the plot of the Crow Father, a daemon, was told to them and they rushed back to Stern Hope, only arriving too late to help some.
Entering the cathedral the pair saw Aristarchus, whom thinking he was bringing back the incarnation of Saint Drusus, in the midst of a psychic seance or sorts. The Abbot Skae appeared and made it immediately apparent that he was possessed by the Crow Father. Bullets and weapons could do the beast or its host no harm. Lyra engaged it in single combat, slashing and shooting as she was taken over by a rage of faith. It was eventually in her anger she levelled one of her prized revolvers at the creature's eye and fired, that its weakness was found. Metalus finished the deed with a shot to the other eye. The threat of the Crow Father is no more, and the people of Stern Hope and maybe Ioncathos itself had been saved.
But fate would lead elsewhere...
The Fallen Angel
Before the pair could leave Lyra felt a life debt was owed to the Sisters inhabiting the Abbey of Dawn. She managed, with a ruse from the Priest, to find transporation to the Abbey and was deposited before its doors. She was admitted and tread halls she hadn't seen in six years. It was here that caught up in the moment of seeing the inside of the Abbey again and seeing old friends and mentors she blurted out her story. The Sisters took every part of her story seriously, including her speaking out against the Emperor. They offered her a choice as a former novice and outsider, to accept a Rite of Repentance. Lyra accepted without thought. It was here she was determined to have her true rebirth, to answer her questions as to her true purpose, and to steel her newfound zeal with a quest. She must slay: one mutant, one witch, and one daemon...
Her pursuit finds her looking for the first...
Mutant Slayer
Three months later, Lyra would find herself back on Scintilla, looking for a mutant nest to exterminate. In her research she found that one would be to easy and that a powerful one would be rare, but a nest of them would be a worthy goal, maybe the Emperor would smile upon her and give her a powerful mutant to face as well. After spending two months traversing space from ship to ship she finally managed to drop right back onto Bastion Serpentis to report back to Skane in surprise about her mission on Iocanthos and the interesting developments. She was not met well. Her and Inquisitor Skane had a first contact that has left them both sour, but Skane realizes Lyra's newfound zeal is an asset to her cause. With her former team on a task in the Halo Stars, Skane decided that having Lyra hunt down a mutant infestation, elminating a witch, and (laughably in her opinion) slaying a Daemon would only eliminate more enemies of the Imperium and let the woman about on her suici- virtuous "quest." She found herself in the lower hive at Arbites Precinct 97 on "Inquisition Business" going out with the Judges to all calls that seemed mutant related. By the end of the month she would have no luck but would only continue trying since there is no failing in her tasks.
Fate would reunite her with familar faces yet again...
Around her neck she wears her dog tag chains with other items added to the long steel chains:
1. A Grenade pin from her encounter on Sepherin.
2. A Grenade pin from her suicide attempt on Modra.
3. A spent revolver casing from Modra. The bullet is lodged somewhere in the wall of Don Din's Grand Hotel.
4. A lock of Raven's hair. An odd gift over her guilt for breaking Lyra's leg.
5. A metal Aquila given in exchange for a donation at Port Suffering, Iocanthos.
6. A piece of flint with an engraved Aquila from Stern Hope, Iocanthos. (Acts as a Charm)

Appearance
She is a striking young woman with long blue-black hair and odd ice blue eyes. She stands tall for a woman, and as some can see, her sharp tan face shows the muscle tone she posses. She wears a brown leather waist jacket with sleeves that end mid-way on her arm, one can see the scars on her arms from her engagements. She sports an electoo in the middle of her back of an Aquilla, a tradition of all the members of the Recon Platoon. She has a penchant for lho-sticks and carries a trench lighter she'd made at Sepheris Secundus. In a pocket of her jacket she carries a bent metal coin that will allow her passage back to the Abbey of Dawn, it bears the emblem of the Ebon Chalice and was given to her by Palatine Rhiannon before she was secreted aboard a cargo carrier to leave Iocanthus. She is very superstitious about inanimate objects and grows attached to "lucky ones." Despite her career and history and her mettle in battle, she is a very quiet and shy person, usually keeping to herself, and will not interfere with anyone or anything else unless she has to. Her loyalty to the Emperor is strong though she does not always partake much in prayer anymore, but has seen the corruption of men not controlled by Chaos and has lost some faith. Though in battle she is almost an instrument of the Emperor as she charges headlong into the engagement her revolvers Veritas and AƩquitas booming and she usually will end up fighting with her monosword by the end of a fight, but she almost takes a glee to the din of battle but is quick to calm down afterwards. She believes that faith is most assuredly her shield and disdains wearing armor. Even more her zeal is taken to almost levels of beserk when she see innocents under the charge of the Emperor fall under the oppression of the Ruinous Powers, even their Dark Gods cannot save them from the wrath of the woman gone almost mad. A strange woman indeed. Her Dog Tags
