Whilst many types of lasguns are hardwired into a fixed power setting to ensure that they remain easy to use even for the most simple-minded PDF conscripts, the weapon is inherently capable of discharging different amounts of energy with each shot. Most models in use by the Imperial Guard retain this function, which is commonly represented by a small slider on the body casing.
General Effects
Increase clip size by x2
If the lasgun was capable of Semi Auto fire, add Full Auto option with +2 RoF (e.g. S/3/- becomes S/3/5)
Changing the power setting of a lasgun is a half action (free action for characters with Rapid Reload). The different settings have the following effects on the weapon:
Minimum: -1 damage, every shot reduces the power pack's ammunition by 1
Medium: no change, every shot reduces the power pack's ammunition by 2
Maximum: +1 damage, every shot reduces the power pack's ammunition by 3, cannot use Full Auto
If the lasgun has the Reliable trait, it will loose it for the duration it is fired on the maximum setting. If the weapon did not have the Reliable trait, it will become Unreliable. If the weapon has already been Unreliable, it will gain Overload instead. This drawback does not apply to lasguns of Good or Best Quality.
